Crochet

I thought I would update you with my crochet.  Back in August 2010 I bought some Rowan wool from Liberty in London : -http://allotmentheavencraftsandrecipes.blogspot.com/2010/08/ive-been-to-libertys.html

Well I haven't been doing very much crocheting recently so the squares are coming along very slowly. I have made these so far. Luckily I am only making a cushion cover, so I don't need to do many more to finish it.

The colours don't look great in these photo's as the light is so bad during the day. I should have taken them outside for a true colour.

I have also been working on some new cards. Just simple little cards with  pretty tiny floral background paper, or stamped dotty backgrounds, torn mulberry paper heart, pretty Indian ribbon on green mulberry paper, and hand painted watercolour beach huts, with a little bunting. I never tire of card making and always seem to be on a roll for ideas late at night (unfortunately !) this seems to be my most creative time.

Crafty

I thought I would share my recent crafty moments with you. I haven't been able to concentrate for long periods recently as I seem to have so many things that I need to / want to do that it all overwhelms me and I end up doing very little in the way of actually finishing something.  However I have given myself a good talking to !!!! and decided that I will do one task each day for at least an hour at a time, that way the plan is I get a bit of progress and actually finish some things eventually ! anyway here is a few things on the go :

 I will show the finished bag as soon as I have completed it. The dotty fabric is to line the bag and for the handles, it should look very girly and have a 'homespun' look to it when finished. I've no pattern and have made it up as I go along, which has probably made the whole project take longer.

No plans on what to do with these yet, but I just had to have them.

And so it grows !

I think maybe I am getting a bit bored with the same colours, so I will be glad to try something else when this is finished. I have lots of ideas in my head that I am thinking of for the finished edges of this throw, I definitely don't wont tassels. I am going to crochet a cream border all around and then do something along the edge of that to give the whole thing a super finish. WELL that's the plan anyway !!

Crochet update, Florence's throw is growing

The throw is growing, very slowly. I only manage to crochet a few squares a day. Last night I crocheted together 8 squares, that takes an age to do. I also made 2 small flowers to sew onto some plain squares. The colours here aren't really true as I have taken them under artificial light, scroll down to a previous post for the true colours taken in day light.

Update on my Crochet throw

This is the throw that I am making for my little grand-daughter Florence, she is only just a year old, but I'm hoping this will be something that she will have for years to come. I have a lot more work to do yet as it's only a quarter of the size I want it to be, it's about the size of a very large cushion at the moment.

I didn't want to sew it together in the usual way, so I double crocheted all the squares together. It took ages but was more interesting than just plain sewing. I was taking a bit of a risk as although I had the idea in my head I hadn't a clue if it would work. I am delighted with the result and it gives it a bit of a solid feel, rather than a stretchy one, although it still does have a lot of give.

I crocheted the flower and sewed it on as an afterthought, and I am so pleased with that as well, SO, so far it's working out as I imagined it, I don't have a pattern, so making it up as I go along. I did have a pattern for the flower though, but made a mistake with it as it should have had five petals, and I managed to only do four !!! oh well it looks OK. I will probably add just a couple more flowers of different types, but no more than that or else it takes away the novelty.

Why is it that the word Crocheted doesn't look right ?? I know it is but is looks like a silly word !!
